On Leaving Home

بِسْمِ اللهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللهِ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بالله

“In the Name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah; there is no might or power except by Allah”
 
 
When Leaving for a Journey

 سُبْحَانَ الَّذي سَخَّرَ لَنا هَذا وَ مَا كُنّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِيْن وَ إنَّا إلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُوْن 

“Glory be to the one who has made this (means of transport) subservient to us and we do not have the power to subjugate it and we shall most certainly return to our Lord.”
 
 
The intention for ‘Umrah

اللّٰهُمَّ إنِّيْ أُرِيْدُ العُمْرَةَ فَيَسِّرْهَا لِيْ وتَقَبَّلْهَا مِنِّيْ

“O Allah! I intend to perform ‘Umrah. ‏‏Make it easy for me and accept it from me."
 
 
The intention for Hajj

اللّٰهُمَّ إنِّيْ أُرِيْدُ الحَجَّ فَيَسِّرْهُ لِيْ وتَقَبَّلْهَ مِنِّيْ

“O Allah! I intend to perform Hajj. Make it easy for me and accept it from me.  
 
 
The Talbiyah

لَبَّيْكَ اللّٰهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ. لَبَّيْكَ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَكَ لَبَّيْكَ. إِنَّ الْحَمْدَ وَالنِّعْمَةَ لَكَ وَالْمُلْكَ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَكَ

“Here I am, O Allah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. Verily all praise and blessings are Yours, and all sovereignty, You have no partner”
 
 
Istilām—Raising hands in front of
al-Ḥajr al-Aswad (the black stone)

بِسْمِ اللهِ اللهُ أكْبَرُ وَلِلَّهِ الْحِمْد

“In the name of Allah and for Allah is Praise.”
 
 
The intention for Ṭawāf

اللّٰهُمَّ إنِّيْ أُرِيْدُ طَوَافَ بَيْتِكَ الْحَرَامِ فَيَسِّرْهُ لِيْ وَتَقَبَّلْهُ مِنِّيْ

“O Allah! I intend to perform Ṭawāf of your sacred house. Make it easy for me and accept it from me."
 
 
Ṭawāf at al-Rukn al-Yamāni Corner

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِيْ الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِيْ الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

“O Allah! Grant us goodness in this world, goodness in the Hereafter and save us from the Fire." 
 
 
Duʻā’ after Ṣalāt al-Iḥrām

اللّٰهُمَّ إنِّيْ أَسْأَلُكَ رِضَاكَ وَالْجَنَّةَ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ غَضَبِكَ وَالنَّارِ

“O Allah! I seek Your contentment and Paradise, and I seek protection from Your wrath and the Fire”
 
 
Entering al-Masjid al-Ḥarām

بِسْمِ اللهِ. اللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ. اللّٰهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِيْ ذُنُوْبِيْ وَافْتَحْ لِيْ أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ

“In the name of Allah. O Allah send blessings on
Muhammad ﷺ. O Allah, forgive us our sins and open for us the doors of Your mercy.”
 
 
When Leaving al-Masjid al-Ḥarām

بِسْمِ اللهِ. اللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ. اللّٰهُمَّ إنِّيْ أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ

“In the name of Allah. O Allah send blessings on
Muhammad ﷺ  O Allah, I seek from You Your grace”
 
 
At Maqām Ibrahīm

وَاتَّخِذُوْا مِنْ مَقَامِ إِبْرَاهِيْمَ مُصَلّىً

“And take from the Maqām of Ibrahīm a place of prayer.’” [2:125]
 
 
When Drinking Zam-Zam

اللّٰهُمَّ إنِّيْ أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا وَرِزْقًا وَاسِعًا وَشِفَاءً مِنْ كُلِّ دَاءٍ

“O Allah! I seek from You beneficial knowledge, plentiful sustenance, and cure from all ailments”
 
 
At Mount Ṣafā

أَبْدَأُ بِمَا بَدَأَ اللهُ بِهِ إِنَّ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةَ مِنْ شَعَائِرِ اللهِ. لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا الله

“I begin with that which Allah began. Indeed Safā and Marwā are from the signs of Allah. There is no deity except Allah.”
 
 
At Mount Marwāh

اللّٰهُمَّ اغْفِرْ وَارْحَمْ وَاعْفُ عَمَّا تَعْلَمُ

 وَأَنْتَ الْأَعَزُّ الْأَكْرَمُ

“O Lord forgive me and have mercy on me. Indeed You are the Most Honourable and the Most Generous."

 
Stoning at the Jamarāt

بِسْمِ اللهِ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ رَغْمًا لِلشَّيْطَانِ وَرِضًى لِلرَّحْمٰنِ اللّٰهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ حَجًّا مَبْرُوْرًا وَذَنْبًا مَغْفُوْرًا وَسَعْيًا مَشْكُوْرًا

“In the name of Allah. Allah is the greatest in spite of the devil, and contentment is for the Beneficent. O Allah, make it an accepted Hajj, and forgiveness of sins, and a commended effort”
 
 
When Cutting or Shaving the Head

الْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ عَلَى مَا هَدَانَا. الْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ عَلَى مَا أَنْعَمَ بِهِ عَلَيْنَا. اللّٰهُمَّ هٰذِهِ نِاصِيَتِيْ فتَقَبَّلْ مِنِّيْ وَاغْفِرْ لِيْ ذُنُوْبِيْ. اللّٰهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِيْ وَلِلْمُحَلِّقِيْنَ وَالْمُقَصِّرِيْنَ يَا وَاسِعَ الْمَغْفِرَةِ آمِيْن

“Praise be to Allah for that which He has guided us to. Praise be to Allah for what He has favoured us with. O Allah, this is my  forelock so accept it from me and from those who shave their hair, and shorten their hair, O the Great Forgiver.”
 
 
Ṭawāf al-Widā’ (Farewell Ṭawāf)

اللّٰهُمَّ الْبَيْتُ بَيْتُكَ وَالْعَبْدُ عَبْدُكَ وَابْنُ عَبْدِكَ وَابْنُ أَمَتِكَ حَمَلْتَنِيْ عَلَى مَا سَخَّرْتَ لِيْ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ حَتَّى سَيَّرْتَنِيْ فِيْ بِلَادِكَ وَبَلَغْتَنِيْ بِنِعْمَتِكَ حَتَّى أَعَنْتَنِيْ عَلَى قَضَاءِ مَنَاسِكِكَ فَإِنْ كُنْتَ رَضِيْتَ اللّٰهُمَّ فَاصْحِبْنِيْ الْعَافِيَةَ فِيْ بَدَنِيْ وَالْعِصْمَةَ فِيْ دِيْنِيْ وَأَحْسِنْ مُنْقَلَبِيْ وَارْزُقْنِيْ طَاعَتَكَ مَا أَبْقَيْتَنِيْ وَاجْمَعْ خَيْرَيَّ الْآخِرَةِ وَالدُّنْيَا

 إِنَّكَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ

“O Allah! The House is Yours and the slave is Yours – son of Your slave and maid – You have carried me on those which You subjected to me of Your creatures, and thus enabled me to travel in Your lands, and enabled me to reach with Your graces and supported me to perform Your rites – so if You are pleased with me then accompany me with health in my body, protection for my faith and make better my return to You. Provide me with Your obedience as long as I live, and gather to me the goodness of both this world and the Hereafter. You are over all things Competent.”
 
 
After Ṭawāf al-Widā’

اللّٰهُمَّ ارْزُقْنِيْ الْعَوْدَ بَعْدَ الْعَوْدِ الْمَرَّةَ بَعْدَ الْمَرَّةِ إِلَى بَيْتِكَ الْحَرَامِ وَاجْعَلْنِيْ مِنَ الْمَقْبُوْلِيْنَ عِنْدَكَ يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ

“O Allah, grant me many returns, time after time to visit Your Sacred House and make me among those who are accepted by You – You are full of Majesty, Bounty and Honour”
 

اللّٰهُمَّ لَا تَجْعَلْهُ آخِرَ الْعَهْدِ مِنْ بَيْتِكَ الْحَرَام يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ

 

“OAllah! Do not make this (pilgrimage of mine) the last visit to Your Sacred House, O Most Merciful of the Merciful”.
 
 
 When Travelling Towards Home

 آئِبُونَ تَائِبُونَ عَابِدُونَ لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ

“(We are now) returning from our journey repenting          
     (to Allah), worshipping (Him), and praising our Lord.”
